According to many studies, there is no more powerful sense than that of smell. The right scents can evoke emotions and they can also help encourage relaxation. If you are experiencing a significant amount of stress, it’s always good to address this issue from multiple angles. In other words, you need to deal with the stress triggers but you also need to help your body and mind deal with the stress by eating right, exercising, and through the use of aromatherapy. This can be done with essential oils as well as luxury bath and body products. Here are some scents to look for when you are buying yourself or a loved one a relaxing pamper hamper.

    Lavender

There is no doubt that lavender is one of the most soothing scents of all time. This is why it is used in various products designed to help babies enjoy a restful night. If it works for them, it surely works for us too! Bath oils, soaps, and lotions are all great ways of enjoying this scent. You can even set a bunch of lavender in your bedroom to help you sleep easy.

    Lemon

The scent of lemon is refreshing and invigorating. It’s fantastic for helping clear the mind and gives you a great boost for the rest of the day. It’s known for helping easy anxiety and slow your heart rate. So, the next time you are feeling stressed, give this lovely scent a try.

    Ylang Ylang

This is one of the most popular essential oils used in aromatherapy. It is extracted from a flower and it is known for having amazing relaxing properties. According to smaller studies, this oil has helped lower blood pressure which is a great achievement in terms of stress relief. It is often mixed with other essential oils for an even greater effect.

    Jasmine

While there’s not all that much research regarding the effects of this scent, it’s certainly worth a try. Jasmine is such a delight to the senses that it’s worth trying some essential oils and even jasmine tea to help calm those nerves. Remember, when enjoying any herbal tea, you should also take in the smell. Smell plays a huge role in how flavours are perceived and it can also have an additional soothing effect.
